Yes/no questions and information questions
A yes/no question normally puts the finite verb first: Hast du Zeit? Wohnen Sie hier? In an information question, put the question expression first, then the finite verb: Wo wohnst du? Wie viel kostet das? The multiword wie viel occupies one position.
Also recognise Was für ein …? asking what kind of thing, versus Welcher …? choosing which one in a relevant set: Was für ein Auto suchst du? Welches Auto ist deins? Learn their endings as the noun/case patterns become familiar.

welcher/welche/welches which, with endings reflecting the noun/case.
