Learn 0–20 from the vocabulary bank; then build unit + und + tens: einundzwanzig 21, vierunddreißig 34. Notice sechzehn, siebzehn, sechzig, siebzig, dreißig. einhundertvierundzwanzig = 124. Basic numbers are usually written together. eine Million, zwei Millionen uses a noun with a plural.

eins stands alone; before nouns the “one” stem is generally ein- with the required ending: ein Euro, eine Minute, einen Tag.

German notation normally uses a decimal comma: 2,50 €. In speech: zwei Euro fünfzig. A label such as 1.500 generally means fifteen hundred, not one point five. Be especially careful with dates, prices and phone numbers in listening.
