Reflexive and fixed verb patterns: useful early chunks

Some verbs or meanings use a pronoun referring back to the subject: sich freuen, sich treffen, sich vorstellen. Accusative reflexive forms are mich, dich, sich, uns, euch, sich. Ich wasche mich means I wash myself.

With a separate body-part object, a dative reflexive can appear: Ich wasche mir die Hände. The deeper alternation is an A2 target; learn the early expression in its complete form.

Useful patterns: sich freuen auf + accusative for something anticipated; sich treffen mit + dative for meeting someone.

Not every English verb with “myself” becomes reflexive in German, and not every German reflexive maps to an explicit Hindi khud (oneself).

Example
Ich freue mich auf das Wochenende. Wir treffen uns am Samstag.
English
I am looking forward to the weekend. We are meeting on Saturday.
Hinglish
Mujhe weekend ka intezaar hai. Hum Saturday ko mil rahe hain.
Worked example

Sie stellt sich vor. = She introduces herself.

Hinglish: Woh apna introduction deti hai.

The reflexive pronoun belongs to this construction.
